Special traffic advisory on MIC-Earlington Heights Connector construction

State Road 112 - Airport Expressway


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Multiple closures from 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2009 to 4 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009: As part of the Miami-Dade Transit's Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector Project, the following closures will impact traffic on S.R. 112 for the construction of foundation for the future elevated Metrorail guideway.

  • Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:  The inside lane on westbound S.R. 112 will be temporarily closed between NW 27th Avenue and NW 37th Avenue for permanent placement of work signs.
  • Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 9:00 p.m. to Monday, November 2, 2009 at 4:00 a.m.: The outside lane on westbound S.R. 112 will be temporarily closed between NW 27th Avenue and NW 37th Avenue for the removal of a light pole in conflict with the future elevated Metrorail guideway structure adjacent to the westbound mainline. The existing light pole will be replaced with temporary post mounted lights on the barrier wall already in place.

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
