Special Traffic Advisory on MIC-Earlington Heights Connector construction

State Road 112– Airport Expressway


(Miami-Dade County, FL) --  Multiple closures from Saturday, November 14, 2009 to Monday, November 16, 2009: As part of the Miami-Dade Transit’s Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector Project, the following closures will impact traffic on S.R. 112 for the construction of foundation for the future elevated Metrorail guideway.

  • Starting Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, November 16, 2009 at 4:00 a.m.: The right and center lanes on westbound S.R. 112 will be temporarily closed between NW 27th Avenue and NW 32nd Avenue to construct sheet piles for Pier 56.
  • Starting Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, November 16, 2009 at 4:00 a.m.: The off-ramp to NW 27th Avenue (Ramp 25) will be closed temporarily for implementation of barrier walls and stripping.

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
