Special Traffic Advisory on MIC-Earlington Heights Connector construction

State Road 112– Airport Expressway


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 


Multiple closures from Saturday, November 21, 2009 to Monday, November 23, 2009:
As part of the construction activities for Miami-Dade Transit's MIC-Earlington Heights Metrorail Connector project, the following closures will impact traffic on S.R. 112 for the construction of foundation for the future elevated Metrorail guideway.

  • Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 22, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.: The right and center lanes on westbound S.R. 112 will be temporarily closed between NW 27th Avenue and just west of NW 32nd Avenue to construct sheet piles for Pier 56.
  • Starting Sunday, November 22, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, November 23, 2009, at 4:00 a.m.: The off-ramp to NW 27th Avenue (Ramp 25) will be closed temporarily for implementation of barrier walls and stripping.

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
