Miami-Dade Transit's Black History tours return for limited time

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
As part of Miami-Dade County's annual celebration of Black History Month, Miami-Dade Transit's award-winning Black History tours are returning for the 17th year to showcase landmarks that helped shape the history of Miami's African-American community.

The tours have remained a popular outing as well as an educational tool for the community. Miami-Dade Transit bus operators narrate the approximately 3½-hour tour aboard MDT buses.

The free tours will depart on Saturday, Feb. 20, and Saturday, Feb. 27, beginning at 9 a.m., from the Stephen P. Clark Center at 111 NW First St. in downtown Miami. Buses will pick up tour participants on First Street in front of the building. Tour buses will visit historic sites in Overtown, Coconut Grove, Liberty City, Brownsville and elsewhere.

Seats on the tour are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to make a reservation. For more information about the tours, visit MDT's website at www.miamidade.gov/transit, or call 3-1-1 (305-468-5900 if calling from outside of Miami-Dade County).
