Special Traffic Advisory on MIC-Earlington Heights Connector construction


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

State Road 112- Airport Expressway
Multiple nightly closures from Wednesday, March 10, 2010, to Friday, March 12, 2010:
  As part of the Miami-Dade Transit's Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector Project, the following lane closures will impact traffic on both eastbound and westbound S.R. 112, between NW 27 Avenue and NW 42 Avenue, for the installation of steel sheet piling.

S.R. 112 westbound

  • From 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, to 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010:  The left lane will be temporarily closed for one night only.

S.R. 112 eastbound

  • From 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, to 5:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010:  The center and left lanes will be temporarily closed for one night only.  At 5:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010, the center lane will reopen but the left lane will remain closed for continual construction work until Monday, June 7, 2010.

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
