Special traffic advisory on MIC-Earlington Heights Connector construction


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Nightly Mainline Closure State Road 112 (Airport Expressway)

All eastbound lanes between NW 27 Avenue and NW 32 Avenue will be closed nightly starting Monday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 16, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.:  As part of the Miami-Dade Transit's Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector Project, all eastbound lanes on S.R. 112 between NW 27 Avenue and NW 32 Avenue will be closed for the erection of guideway segments.  All lanes will be closed at night 9:00 p.m. each night and will reopen at 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

S.R. 112 eastbound Detour

  • NW 36 Street to S.R. 112 eastbound Traffic:  Motorists traveling east on NW 36 Street who wish to access S.R. 112 eastbound will be directed to turn left on NW 22 Avenue.  Continue north on NW 22 Avenue and turn slightly right to entrance ramp for S.R. 112 eastbound.
  • NW 21 Street to S.R. 112 eastbound Traffic:  Motorists traveling west on NW 21 Street who wish to access S.R.112 eastbound will be directed to NW 42 Avenue/LeJeune Road.  Continue north on NW 42 Avenue/LeJeune Road and turn right on NW 36 Street.  Continue east on NW 36 Street and turn left on NW 22 Avenue. Continue north on NW 22 Avenue and turn slightly right to entrance ramp for S.R. 112 eastbound.
  • E. Okeechobee Road to S.R. 112 eastbound Traffic: Motorists traveling on East Okeechobee Road who wish to access S.R. 112 eastbound will be directed to turn left on NW 36 Street.  Continue east on NW 36 Street and turn left on NW 22 Avenue.  Continue north on NW 22 Avenue and turn slightly right to entrance ramp for S.R. 112 eastbound.

The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
