Miami-Dade County will host the Florida Public Transportation Association's 36th Annual Conference from Oct. 17-19, 2010, in downtown Miami.
More than 300 participants from transit properties around the state will share the latest information on transit planning, operations and management and receive updates from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) at the conference being held at the Miami Hilton Hotel, 1601 Biscayne Blvd.
The conference's theme is "Public Transportation - An Investment in our Future."
"Miami-Dade Transit is honored to serve as the host transit property for the FPTA's 36th Annual Conference," said MDT Director Harpal Kapoor. "We look forward to sharing ideas on improving public transportation for all our communities."
The Board of the FPTA will make a special announcement on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m. about its "IM4Transit" campaign, which seeks to identify, recruit, and mobilize 100,000 pro-transit Floridians around ballot initiatives, federal reauthorization, and other transit funding issues in partnership with the American Public Transportation Association.
"The national transit community will be closely watching this demonstration project with Florida at the epicenter," FPTA Executive Director Wes Watson said.
