Special traffic advisory on construction of
Miami-Dade Transit's AirportLink Metrorail extension



(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade Transit is currently constructing the AirportLink.  The following road and lane closures are necessary in order to perform this activity. Look for detour signs guiding motorists to use alternate routes.

Temporary lane closures on westbound SR 112/Airport Expressway
Starting Monday, January 10, 2011 through Tuesday, February 8, 2011, traffic will be reduced to one lane on westbound SR 112 between NW 27th Avenue and NW 42nd Avenue/LeJeune Road from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.  All lanes will reopen at 5:30 a.m. each morning.

Nightly full road closure of NW 36th Street
Starting Monday, January 10, 2011 through Friday, March 25, 2011, all eastbound and westbound lanes on NW 36th Street between NW North River Drive and NW 37th Avenue will be completely closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.  All lanes will reopen each morning at 5:30 a.m.  This closure was originally scheduled from Monday, December 20, 2010, through Friday, March 25, 2011.

  • Eastbound NW 36th Street:  Motorists traveling east on NW 36th Street will be directed to turn southeast on NW North River Drive, north on NW 37th Avenue, and east on NW 36th Street. 
  • Westbound NW 36th Street:  Motorists traveling west on NW 36th Street will be directed to turn south on NW 37th Avenue, northwest on NW North River Drive, and west on NW 36th Street.

The AirportLink project is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
