Miami-Dade Transit announces the opening of the new West Kendall Transit Terminal and Park & Ride lot in Kendall.
The new terminal, located at 9155 SW 162 Ave, across the street from the new West Kendall Baptist Hospital, has 40 parking spots available for transit customers to park for free and board one of the following routes - 72, 88, 104, 204 Killian KAT, 272 Sunset KAT and 288 Kendall Cruiser - will now begin and end at the West Kendall Transit Terminal.
An additional Park & Ride lot is located one mile from the new terminal at Kendall Drive and SW 150 Avenue near the Target.
One of MDT's newest and most comfortable routes in Miami-Dade County, the 288 Kendall Cruiser, now calls the new West Kendall Transit Terminal home. Originally named the Kendall Kat, the Kendall Cruiser began service June 28, 2010 with the intention of relieving traffic congestion along the heavily travelled North Kendall Drive (SW 88 St.)
Providing service with nine (9) sixty-foot articulated diesel electric hybrids, the Kendall Cruiser offers peak commuter service from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the mornings, and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the evening, Monday through Friday.
This service carries approximately 800 riders daily, which translates into an annual ridership of about 200,000. Each of the nine buses is equipped with free Wi-Fi access for transit riders.
