Transit service extended for NBA Finals in downtown Miami

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade Transit is extending Metrorail and Metromover service to accommodate those attending the National Basketball Association (NBA) finals (Miami Heat vs. Dallas Mavericks) at the AmericanAirlines Arena in downtown Miami on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 and Thursday, June 2.

  • Metrorail will extend service until 1 a.m., or longer as needed.

  • Metromover service will continue until the last Metrorail trains depart from the Government Center Station.

To avoid long lines at the ticket vending machines at Metrorail stations, MDT is encouraging all transit riders to purchase and load an EASY Card or EASY Ticket prior to the games. Both are available at EASY Card ticket vending machines located at all Metrorail stations, and at more than 75 EASY Card sales outlets located throughout Miami-Dade County, among other locations. Metromover is free for everyone.

For more information on how to obtain an EASY Card or EASY Ticket, or about transit schedules, transit riders can visit, or call 305-891-3131, Monday-Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TTY users can call 305-499-8971.
