Special traffic advisory on construction of Miami-Dade Transit's AirportLink Metrorail extension


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade Transit is currently constructing the AirportLink.  The following road closure is necessary in order to perform this activity. Look for detour signs guiding motorists to use alternate routes.

FULL CLOSURE OF NW 41ST STREET
From Wednesday, August 10, to Thursday, August 11, 2011 all eastbound and westbound lanes on NW 41st  Street, from east of NW 27th Avenue to NW 23rd Avenue, will be completely closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. This closure is necessary to repave the road. Limited access to residents and businesses will be provided. No parking and no through traffic will be allowed on NW 41ST Street during this closure.

  • NW 41st Street Westbound Traffic: Motorists traveling west on NW 41st Street who wish to access NW 27th Avenue (north of NW 41st Street) will be directed to turn north on NW 22nd  Avenue, then turn west on NW 46th Street and continue to NW 27th Avenue. Those who wish to access NW 27th Avenue (south of NW 41st Street) will be directed to turn south on NW 22nd Avenue, then turn west on NW 36th Street and continue to NW 27th Avenue.
  • NW 41st Street Eastbound Traffic: Motorists traveling east on NW 41st Street who wish to access NW 22nd Avenue (north of 41st Street.) will be directed to turn north on NW 27th Avenue, then turn east on NW 46th Street and continue to NW 22nd Avenue. Those who wish to access NW 22nd Avenue (south of 41st Street) will be directed to turn south on NW 27th Avenue, then turn east on NW 36th Street and continue to NW 22nd Avenue.

The AirportLink project is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail station to the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
