Special traffic advisory on construction of Miami-Dade Transit's Airportlink Metrorail extension


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade Transit is currently constructing the AirportLink. The following lanes and ramp closures are necessary to complete the work. Look for directional signs on the road.

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE ON SR 112/AIRPORT EXPRESSWAY WESTBOUND  
Between Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. and Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. the far right lane on SR 112 westbound will be closed between NW 27 Avenue and NW 42 Avenue/LeJeune Road.

DUAL LANE CLOSURE ON SR 112/AIRPORT EXPRESSWAY WESTBOUND
Between Monday, December 19, 2011 and Friday, December 23, 2011 the two right lanes on SR 112 westbound will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning between NW 22 Avenue and NW 42 Avenue/LeJeune Road.

NIGHT TIME FULL CLOSURE OF THE SR 112 WB/AIRPORT EXPRESSWAY EXIT RAMP TO NW 27 AVENUE  
Between Monday, December 19, 2011 and Friday, December 23, 2011 the SR 112 westbound exit ramp to NW 27 Avenue will be completely closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning.

Suggested alternate routes:

  • Traffic on SR 112 westbound heading to NW 27 Avenue northbound: Motorists will be directed to exit on NW 22 Avenue, turn north to NW 46 Street and west to NW 27 Avenue.
  • Traffic on SR 112 westbound heading to NW 27 Avenue southbound: Motorists will be directed to exit on NW 22 Avenue, turn south to NW 36 Street and west to NW 27 Avenue.

The AirportLink project is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs, facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
