Special traffic advisory on construction of Miami-Dade Transit's Airportlink Metrorail extension


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade Transit is currently constructing the AirportLink. The following road closures are necessary to complete the work. Look for directional signs on the road.

Full Night Time Closures of NW 27 Avenue
Between Tuesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 9, 2012 all northbound and southbound lanes on NW 27 Avenue, between NW 39 Street and NW 41 Street will be completely closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. No through traffic will be permitted.

Suggested alternate routes:

  • Northbound  NW 27 Avenue: Motorists traveling north on NW 27 Avenue will be directed to turn east on NW 36 Street, north on NW 22 Avenue and west on NW 46 Street to access NW 27 Avenue.
  • Southbound NW 27 Avenue: Motorists traveling southbound on NW 27 Avenue will be directed to turn east on NW 46 Street, south on NW 22 Avenue and west on NW 36 Street to access NW 27 Avenue.

Full Night Time Closures of NW 36 Street
Between Wednesday, February 8 and Thursday, February 9, 2012 all eastbound and westbound lanes on NW 36 Street, between NW 37 Avenue and NW North River Drive, will be completely closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. No through traffic will be permitted.

Suggested alternate routes:

  • Eastbound NW 36 Street: Motorists traveling east on NW 36 Street will be directed to turn southeast on NW North River Drive, north on NW 37 Avenue, and east on NW 36 Street. 
  • Westbound NW 36 Street: Motorists traveling west on NW 36 Street will be directed to turn south on NW 37 Avenue, northwest on NW North River Drive, and west on NW 36 Street.

The AirportLink project is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs, facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
