Special traffic advisory on construction of Miami-Dade Transit's Airportlink Metrorail extension

(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade Transit is currently constructing the AirportLink. The following road closures are necessary to complete the work. Look for directional signs on the road.

Full Night Time Closures of NW 27 Avenue
Between Tuesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 9, 2012 all northbound and southbound lanes on NW 27 Avenue, between NW 39 Street and NW 41 Street will be completely closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. No through traffic will be permitted.

Suggested alternate routes:

Road closure extension on NW 41 Street from West of NW 27 Avenue to NW 32 Avenue
NW 41 Street from west of NW 27 Avenue to NW 32 Avenue will remain closed 24 hours a day until Wednesday May 2, 2012.

Suggested alternate routes:

  • NW 27 Avenue southbound: Motorists traveling southbound on NW 27 Avenue will be directed to turn west on NW 36 Street and then turn north on NW 32 Avenue.
  • NW 27 Avenue northbound: Motorists traveling northbound on NW 27 Avenue will be directed to turn west on NW 46 Street and then south on NW 32 Avenue.

The AirportLink project is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Metrorail Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs, facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
