Update on Miami-Dade Transit Services

Miami-Dade Transit is planning to provide regular weekday service on Metrobus, Metrorail, Metromover and Special Transportation Service tomorrow, Friday, October 26th.

However, MDT will closely monitor the strength of Hurricane Sandy’s winds. If weather conditions worsen and wind gusts gain strength, for the safety of transit patrons, MDT may temporarily close selected Metrorail and Metromover station platforms and keep patrons at the lower level of the stations until conditions are deemed safe to resume regular service. Patrons are asked to give security officers and transit personnel their full cooperation.

Transit patrons also should be aware that weather conditions may cause some service delays on Metrobus due to possible flooding and road debris.

Strong winds are expected well into Friday. During this time, for the patrons’ safety, MDT encourages Metrorail and Metromover patrons to stand at the center of station platforms and not at the edge.

For more information, transit riders can call 305-891-3131, which is part of the County’s 3-1-1 Answer Center. Specialists, who respond to calls in English, Spanish and Creole, are available weekdays, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. TTY users can call 305-499-8971.

Transit users are also encouraged to visit www.miamidade.gov/transit for information, or to sign up for Rider Alerts.
