Miami-Dade Transit service to be impacted this weekend

(MIAMI, November 30, 2012) – This weekend Miami-Dade Transit’s Metrorail service will be temporarily impacted due to a visit from Vice President Joe Biden to Miami.  For security reasons, several Metrorail stations will need to stop service momentarily on Saturday, December 1, 2012, and on Monday, December 3.  Metrobus routes also will be impacted.

Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) is asking passengers to be patient and to plan accordingly since Metrorail will cease operations intermittently, with service ceasing for as long as 25 to 30 minutes.  We understand this may be an inconvenience and MDT will do all it can to get back on schedule as soon as permissible.  Metrorail riders who plan to use the Orange Line to go to Miami International Airport are encouraged to give themselves ample time to arrive to their destination on time.

For more information, transit riders can call 305-891-3131, which is part of the County’s 3-1-1 Answer Center, available weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  TTY users can call 305-499-8971.  Transit users are also encouraged to visit www.miamidade.gov/transit for information.
