Miami-Dade Transit hosts 2012 toy drive

MDT encourages the public to donate new, unwrapped toys at various Metrorail stations

Miami-Dade Transit's annual toy drive provides transit passengers an opportunity to bring happiness and hope this holiday season to our community’s neediest children.

By donating a new, unwrapped toy valued at $5 or more at the listed Metrorail stations, we can ensure that needy children in Miami-Dade County receive a holiday gift this season.

On Thursday, December 13th and Friday, December 14th please bring a toy to any of the following eight Metrorail stations:

  • Dadeland South
  • Dadeland North
  • South Miami
  • Government Center
  • Civic Center
  • Earlington Heights
  • Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • Palmetto

“Every child should be able to experience the magic of the holiday season,” said Miami-Dade Transit Director Ysela Llort. “That’s why we are asking for the community’s help again this year, so together we can provide presents to children who need them the most.”

For more information about the toy drive, the public can visit MDT’s website at

www.miamidade.gov/transit or call 3-1-1 (TDD 305-499-8971).
