Miami-Dade Transit services for the ING Marathon on Sunday, January 27, 2013


(MIAMI, January 23, 2013) – The ING Marathon will be taking place Sunday, January 27, 2013.  Miami-Dade Transit encourages participants to use Metrorail and Metromover to get to the race.

Metrorail charges $2 per trip.  Only EASY Cards or EASY Tickets are accepted at the Metrorail fare gates, so runners are encouraged to purchase (or load an existing) EASY Card or EASY Ticket before the ING Race.

To avoid long lines the day of the event, Miami-Dade Transit encourages participants to purchase their EASY Card or EASY Ticket prior to January 27.

EASY Cards and EASY Tickets can be conveniently purchased at the Nissan Health & Fitness Expo January 25 and 26, 2013 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. 

Both the EASY Card and EASY Ticket are always available at EASY Card vending machines located at all Metrorail stations, the Golden Glades Park & Ride Lot and at EASY Card Sales Outlets throughout Miami-Dade. Runners are encouraged to load $4 on their EASY Cards or EASY Tickets, ensuring them a round trip for the day.  Parking at Metrorail stations will be free on the day of the ING Marathon.

METRORAIL SERVICE:

  • Service begins at 4:30 a.m. Trains will depart from Palmetto, Dadeland South and Miami International Airport stations at 4:30 a.m.
  • Metrorail will provide regular Sunday service with a frequency of 15 minutes between Earlington Heights and Dadeland South stations and a frequency of 30 minutes between Earlington Heights and Palmetto stations and between Earlington Heights and Miami International Airport stations.

METROMOVER SERVICE:

  • Metromover, which is free, will provide regular Sunday service beginning at 4:30 a.m.

METROBUS DETOURS:

Due to the event, several Metrobus routes will be detoured from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The routes that will be detoured are: 7, S, 10, 3, L, 2, 12, 8, 32, 249, 22, 16, 9, A, 344, B, 24, M, 120, C, 6, 115, 117, 150. We ask that passengers plan their trips accordingly and be aware of possible service delays. Shuttle bus service will also be provided along Washington Avenue in Miami Beach and between Vizcaya and Mercy Hospital.
