Transit services impacted during Presidential visit

(MIAMI, March 28, 2013) – Miami-Dade Transit’s Metrorail and Metromover service will be temporarily impacted during a visit from President Barack Obama on Friday, March 29, 2013. For security reasons, several Metrorail and Metromover stations will need to stop service momentarily. Metrobus service, in and near downtown Miami, also will be impacted.

Miami-Dade Transit is asking passengers to be patient and plan accordingly since Metrorail and Metromover will cease operations intermittently, with service ceasing for as long as 25 to 30 minutes. MDT will do all it can to get back on schedule as soon as permissible.

Metrorail riders who plan to use the Orange Line to go to Miami International Airport are encouraged to give themselves ample time to arrive to their destination on time.

To be notified of transit service disruptions, transit riders can register to receive Rider Alerts by visiting: http://miamidade.gov/wps/portal/Main/transitrideralerts . In the event of a service disruption or delay, transit users will receive a message with details on the device of their choice.

For more information, transit riders can call 305-891-3131, weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  TTY users can call 305-499-8971.

Transit information is also available at: www.miamidade.gov/transit , or on MDT’s mobile website: www.miamidade.gov/transit/mobile.
