Miami-Dade Transit Will Run a Sunday Schedule For 4th of July

(MIAMI, June 30, 2014) – On Friday, July 4, 2014 - Independence Day - Miami-Dade Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

METRORAIL: Metrorail, which operates from approximately 5 a.m. until approximately 12 midnight daily, will also operate a Sunday schedule.

MDT encourages passengers to be on the platform following the festivities in downtown Miami in order to board the last train, which will leave the Government Center station at approximately midnight.

METROBUS: All bus routes will run on a Sunday schedule. Therefore, weekday routes, such as the I-95 Express and the Kendall Cruiser, will not provide service on Friday, July 4th. Please refer to www.miamidade.gov/transit for scheduling information about a specific Metrobus route.

METROMOVER: Metromover, which is free for everyone and operates from approximately 5 a.m. to approximately 12 midnight daily, will also run on a Sunday schedule.

For an easy and convenient ride into downtown Miami, the public is encouraged to take transit to the 4th of July celebrations.   To avoid long lines at EASY Card ticket vending machines, MDT encourages all event goers to load an EASY Card or EASY Ticket prior to taking transit on July 4th. Parking is available at most Metrorail stations for $4.50 per day.

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES: All MDT administrative offices, including those for Golden Passport and Special Transportation Service (STS), will be closed on July 4th. However, STS customers can still call the STS reservation number (305-871-1111) to reserve or cancel an STS trip.
