Metromover System to Close Early this Weekend
Miami-Dade Transit technicians will work on Metromover system after 9 p.m. closing
(Miami, October 31, 2014) –Miami-Dade Transit’s Metromover technicians need to continue their repair work on the system tracks throughout the weekend. In order to facilitate these repairs, the Metromover system will close as follows:
Friday, October 31, 2014:
- The entire Metromover system will close at 9 p.m.
- Free bus shuttle service will be provided between Metromover stations, with buses arriving approximately every 10 to 15 minutes.
Saturday, November 1st and Sunday, November 2, 2014:
- The Brickell and Omni extensions will close at 9 p.m. Free bus shuttle service will be provided between Metromover stations, with buses arriving approximately every 10 to 15 minutes.
- The Inner Loop will provide regular service until midnight.
The Metromover system, which is free for all users, is a 4.4-mile electrically-powered, fully automated people mover system that connects with Metrorail at Government Center and the Brickell stations and with Metrobus at various locations throughout downtown. Major destinations of the Metromover system include the American Airlines Arena, Bayside Market Place, Miami-Dade College and the Miami-Dade County School Board.
