The County Recorder Office is responsible for the recording, protecting, preserving, and disseminating of official records. This series of records is designed to create a permanent record of these important documents. Most recorded documents from 1974 to the present are available online using the County Recorder's Official Record Search.
Corrections & Rehabilitation
The Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department is comprised of five correctional facilities. These facilities hold on average 5,642 inmates, who are awaiting trial or are serving sentences of 364 days or less.
The Records Management Section of the Regulatory and Economic Resources Department is the central storage and processing area for department records, and assists customers in locating, viewing and copying those records. Records for various programs can include, but not be limited to inspection reports, permit records, enforcement actions, contamination records, environmental monitoring records, contract records and project information.
Fire Rescue Records
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) processes all requests for public records generated by the general public and the media. These may include, but are not limited to, incident reports, fire investigation reports, department personnel files, department policies and procedures, data reports and interoffice memos.
Medical Examiner Records
The primary function of the Records Bureau is to process all public records requests for medical examiner case file information in accordance with Florida Statute 119. This Bureau also assists with requests for statistical data and with research related to medical examiner cases. On-site research can be conducted in one of the facility's two research rooms.
The Central Records Bureau (CRB) at the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) maintains and distributes public records including Arrest Forms (Miami-Dade County only), and only MDPD Offense/Incident (O/I) Reports and Florida Traffic Crash (FTC) Reports. The Bureau also provides police clearance letters, detailing criminal history information, for the purpose of: citizenship/immigration, employment, adoption, education/school, investigation, legal/lawyer/court, and personal reasons.
Property Appraiser records are available to inspect and/or copy excluding confidential records such as exemption applications and financial information. Records available to the public are the following: Notice of Proposed Property Taxes, Photos (if available), Building sketches (if available), and Property cards. Confidential records are only available by Court Order to third parties.
Miami-Dade Transit's (MDT) Document Management Unit (DMU) processes all public records requests to review any MDT facility plan received by the Department. In order to streamline processing, ensure accuracy and track progress, all public records requests should be submitted in writing either to the address below or via email to email@example.com.
Zoning Hearing Records Search
Zoning Hearings are required for approval of all new proposals, and all development plans for a proposed use of land or a proposed structure that have been disapproved by staff. Use the Zoning Hearing Records Search for past and currently active hearing applications.
