Free High Efficiency Showerheads to be given away this Saturday at Adopt-a-Tree event
To receive a free High Efficiency Showerhead, residents must bring their old showerhead to WASD’s representatives on Saturday, July 26th. Eligible Miami-Dade County residents can also get up to 2 FREE trees at the Adopt-a-Tree event at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium, located at 2901 West Flagler Street.
Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) Launches New Website for 20-Year Water Use Information
WASD’s WUP Central, a new website dedicated to its 20-year Water Use Permit (WUP) granted by the South Florida Water Management District last year, is now live.
The 20-year Water Use Permit requires WASD to develop alternative water supply sources. The Permit ensures water will be available for Miami-Dade County’s needs and lays the groundwork for very ambitious capital improvements over the next two decades.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense and the Irrigation Association have named July Smart Irrigation Month to provide tips about smart practices and new technology. Learn what you can do to operate your system at peak efficiency throughout the year.

Miami-Dade County supports the work of Water for People to build life-saving systems to provide potable water, health and sanitation to our neighbors in Central America.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s (WASD) application for a 20-year Consumptive Use Permit (CUP) has been approved by the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The CUP allows WASD to draw water from the Biscayne and Floridan aquifers to serve Miami-Dade County’s drinking water needs.

Modified Phase II Severe Water Shortage Order
effective April 18, 2008.
In Miami-Dade County, residents with odd-numbered addresses may irrigate lawns and landscapes on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. and / or 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
In Miami-Dade County, residents with even numbered addresses may irrigate lawns and landscapes on Thursdays and Sundays from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. and / or 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
Hand-watering with one hose and an automatic shut-off nozzle is allowed for 10 minutes per day for landscape stress relief and to prevent plant die-off.
