    Free High Efficiency Showerheads to be given away this Saturday at Adopt-a-Tree event

    To receive a free High Efficiency Showerhead, residents must bring their old showerhead to WASD’s representatives on Saturday, July 26th. Eligible Miami-Dade County residents can also get up to 2 FREE trees at the Adopt-a-Tree event at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium, located at 2901 West Flagler Street.

    WASD’s WUP Central, a new website dedicated to its 20-year Water Use Permit (WUP) granted by the South Florida Water Management District last year, is now live.

    20-year Consumptive Use Permit for Water approved

    The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s (WASD) application for a 20-year Consumptive Use Permit (CUP) has been approved by the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).  The CUP allows WASD to draw water from the Biscayne and Floridan aquifers to serve Miami-Dade County’s drinking water needs.

    Important Notice

    New Water Restrictions for Miami-Dade

    The South Florida Water Management District issued
    Modified Phase II  Severe Water Shortage Order
    effective April 18, 2008

    • In Miami-Dade County, residents with odd-numbered addresses may irrigate lawns and landscapes on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. and / or 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
    • In Miami-Dade County, residents with even numbered addresses may irrigate lawns and landscapes on Thursdays and Sundays from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. and / or 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
    • Hand-watering with one hose and an automatic shut-off nozzle is allowed for 10 minutes per day for landscape stress relief and to prevent plant die-off.
