Miami-Dade County takes major step forward in the treatment of wastewater

Groundbreaking for high-level disinfection projects

 


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, Commissioner Katy Sorenson, Commissioner Natacha Seijas, Commissioner Rebeca Sosa and County Manager George Burgess join the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) in a ceremony to break ground on 14 related High-Level Disinfection (HLD) projects in south Miami-Dade on April 1st at 10 a.m. at the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant. 

The HLD projects will allow WASD to provide a high level of treatment to wastewater treated at the County’s South District Wastewater Treatment Plant, and will also serve to expand the plant’s maximum (peak) treatment capacity to 285 million gallons per day (MGD), from 225 MGD.
