(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department wants to assure all Miami-Dade residents that our number one priority is the health and safety of all our customers.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department provides approximately 347 million gallons of potable water each day to more than 2.2 million Miami-Dade residents.
Miami-Dade’s drinking water meets all federal, state and local standards for drinking water. It is tested approximately 100,000 times per year. Our drinking water is safe to drink and use for cooking and other potable purposes.
Among the analyses we conduct, the water supplying Miami-Dade’s treatment plants is tested monthly for Cryptosporidum and Giardia, another protozoan. We have tested for both monthly since 1994 and have never detected either organism in our water. This is noted in our most recent annual water quality report which was sent to customers earlier this year and is available online at http://www.miamidade.gov/wasd/report_water_quality.asp.
To reiterate, the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department wants to assure all Miami-Dade residents that our highest priority is the health and safety of all our customers, and our water is safe for drinking, cooking and other everyday uses.
