120-inch pipe laid at Miami-Dade's new high-level disinfection facility

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
A 120-inch diameter pipeline was installed recently at the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s South District Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The pipeline will be used to convey treated effluent from the plant’s effluent clarifiers to new filters that are being built as part of the new high-level disinfection facility at the plant.

This effort is part of a larger project at the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant to expand the plant’s maximum treatment capacity for wastewater by 60 million gallons per day (MGD), from the current 225 MGD to 285 MGD, and provide for high-level disinfection of wastewater, a pre-cursor to the planned future reclaiming of wastewater treated at the plant.
