Miami-Dade County is proud of the drinking water it produces. It meets or exceeds all federal, state and local drinking water standards and, at less than $2.25 per 1,000 gallons, is very inexpensive. So drink up with confidence!

Quick facts

• A network of government agencies monitors tap water suppliers and enforces drinking water standards to ensure the safety of public water supplies. These agencies include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), state departments of health and environment, and local public health departments. • Drinking water must meet required health standards when it leaves the treatment plant. After it leaves the plant, it is monitored within the distribution system to identify and remedy any problems such as water main breaks, pressure variations or growth of microorganisms.
• Highly trained microbiologists, chemists and water treatment specialists conduct or supervise more than 100,000 analyses of water samples each year. Water quality samples are collected throughout the County and tested regularly. Samples include untreated and treated water taken at Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) facilities, sample sites throughout the service areas and at customers' homes.
