Precautionary boil water order issued for part of the City of Hialeah

A Contractor punctured a 54-inch water main on Red Road and West 60th Street in Hialeah. Water was shut down to the area to make the repairs. The following areas are advised to boil water until further notice: West 84th Street (also known as Northwest 138th Street) to the North, Okeechobee Road to the South, from Red Road to West 36th Avenue (also known as Northwest 97th Avenue).

Water is expected to be restored within the next four hours.

A PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ORDER has been issued for all properties within the boundaries noted above.

Due to the loss of pressure in the system, all water used for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled until further notice prior to consumption.  Water should be brought to a full rolling boil for at least one minute.  There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department will be sampling the water. Once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted.

Residents can contact the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's Communications Center at 305-274-9272, 24 hours a day.
