Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department receives award for financial reporting excellence

Department has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA)

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the 29th consecutive year the department has been recognized for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.

“The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department is already known as a utility that provides exceptional water and wastewater services to its customers,” said WASD Director John W. Renfrow, P.E. “Earning this award for nearly three decades illustrates that the department is committed to delivering excellence in all its areas of responsibility.”

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to ensure that it met the high standards of GFOA's program. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association comprising approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
