Water main project will improve pressure in northwest Miami-Dade County

(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department is improving a 36-inch water main in the northwest area of the County. These improvements are essential for the continued service delivery of water to this portion of the County. The project is scheduled to be completed in May. Once completed, water pressure will also improve in the surrounding area.

Traffic will be impacted in phases as the various segments of water pipes are being worked on. Currently, the project is located on Northwest 87th Avenue between Northwest 170th Street and 186th streets. Work is being conducted between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Detours are in place for both sides of the street only for the portion of the road being worked on at the time - approximately 200-300 feet.

Another phase of the project is scheduled to begin in early February and will be on Northwest 170th Street between Northwest 87th and 96th avenues.

WASD is committed to limiting the impact to traffic as much as possible.
