Precautionary boil water order issued after water main break

(MIAMI, January 1, 2014) – The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) issued a Precautionary Boil Water Order for a localized area after an eight-inch water main broke earlier today.

Repairs are expected to be completed by late afternoon and once water service is restored, affected homeowners are asked to bring all water used for drinking or cooking purposes to a full rolling boil for at least one minute until further notice prior to consumption.  There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs.

This boil water order is only in effect for 20-25 homes in the area of Northwest 191st Street to 192nd Street between 37th Court and 39th Avenue. Affected residents will receive a notice from the department.

WASD will be sampling the water. Once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted. If you have any questions, please contact the department’s Communications Center at 305-274-9272, 24 hours a day.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit www.miamidade.gov/water
