Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department celebrates Drinking Water Week with special toast to Miami-Dade drinking water

(MIAMI, May 1, 2015) – The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will join the American Water Works Association (AWWA) in celebrating Drinking Water Week, May 3-9, 2015. Drinking Water Week provides a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

During the May 5th Board of County Commissioner’s Meeting, WASD Director, Lester Sola will give a commemorative “Toast to Miami-Dade County’s Drinking Water” in acknowledgment of the value that safe, reliable water services provide our community. “Drinking Water Week is an important time to understand our drinking water – from source to cup,” said AWWA Chief Executive Officer David LaFrance.” To understand the process is to truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into ensuring it’s safe and distributed to millions,” says Sola.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit www.miamidade.gov/water. More information on the AWWA can also be found at www.awwa.org.
