Pint-sized Picassos to be honored for winning Water Conservation Poster Contest

(MIAMI, May 18, 2015) – If a picture is worth a thousand words then hundreds of local elementary students know the importance of water conservation. The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD), along with community sponsors, will be honoring this year’s first place winners of the Seventh Annual Every Drop Counts Poster Contest during the May 19, 2015 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Kindergarten through 5th grade students showcased their creative talents by illustrating the importance of water conservation and a winning poster entry was selected from each of the 13 County Commission Districts. The artwork will be featured in the 2016 Every Drop Counts Water Conservation calendar.

WASD Director Lester Sola will present recognition certificates to each first place winner along with the county commissioner of their school’s district. A reception sponsored by Winn-Dixie, for students, parents, teachers and principals, will take place after the awards ceremony.  The reception will also host the Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces’ Clean Up and Green Up Poster and Video Contest winners.

WASD would like to thank prize sponsors for their participation and generosity:
