Open house meeting to discuss upcoming Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department improvement projects in South District

(MIAMI, June 10, 2015) – Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will co-host an open house meeting with Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava to discuss upcoming improvement projects in District 8 on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Town of Cutler Bay Town Hall, 10720 Caribbean Blvd., Cutler Bay, FL.

For the next 15 to 20 years, WASD will be overseeing the largest Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in County history. The Capital Improvement Program is a significant economic engine slated to generate approximately $25 billion in economic output and create over 16,000 new jobs during the next 10 years alone.

These CIP projects, which include the replacement and/or improvement of water and sewer lines, state-of-the-art upgrades at the six water and sewer plants and pump stations, will result in increased service capacity that will support more businesses to open in the community, improve the reliability and sustainability of the water and sewer system, provide for environmental regulatory compliance and enhanced fire protection.

WASD staff will be in attendance to present residents with an overview of upcoming projects in the region and answer questions about how this $13.5 billion CIP will benefit the County for decades to come, as well as continue to provide safeguards to protect our vital natural resource – our drinking water.
