Precautionary boil water order issued after water main break

(MIAMI, January 13, 2015) - The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) issued a Precautionary Boil Water Order for the area of Southwest 27th Avenue from Southwest 16th Street to Coral Way and Southwest 17th Street from Southwest 27th Avenue to 30th Avenue. A contractor working in the area broke a 6-inch water line earlier this afternoon. Water will be turned off to conduct the repairs this evening.

Once water service is restored, affected businesses and residents are asked to bring all water used for drinking or cooking purposes to a full rolling boil for at least one minute until further notice prior to consumption. There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs.

WASD will be sampling the water. Once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted. It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers.
