Precautionary swimming advisory in effect

(Miami, July 5, 2016) - A swimming advisory is in effect for the beach areas at Hobie/Windsurfer, Marine Stadium, MAST Academy and Jungle Island.

An overflow of wastewater from a pipe adjacent to the American Airlines Arena caused a wastewater release into the surrounding surface waters. Advisory signs have been posted in the affected areas.

As a precautionary measure, a public advisory is in effect to refrain from swimming and recreational activities within the previously mentioned boundaries.

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County and the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources are testing the affected waters and the advisory remains in effect until test results are clear.
