Lodging Facilities High-Efficiency Toilet Rebate

Miami-Dade County hotels and motels can replace in-room, older-model toilets with high-efficiency models.

Applying for the Lodging Toilet Rebate

Property owners may receive a $50 rebate with the purchase and installation of a WaterSense-certified High-Efficiency toilet. To qualify, the property must be a lodging facility and have been built prior to 1996.

For lodging facilities, a maximum of 75 rebates per property (as defined by the Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser) are available each fiscal year (October 1 – September 30). Please ensure that you indicate the room numbers that were retrofitted with new high efficiency toilets.

Why go high-efficiency?

All new manufactured toilets are required by federal law to use 1.6 gallons per flush (GPF) or less. The plumbing industry has introduced many new technologies and toilet fixture models that reduce effective flush volumes well below the mandated 1.6 GPF maximum.

A high-efficiency toilet is defined as a toilet that uses just 1.28 GPF or less. Toilets prior to 1992 use from 3.5 to six GPF.
