Certification Ceremony

The Miami-Dade County Youth Commission was created by County Ordinance in 2011 as part of the vision of Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan, District 1. Its purpose is to provide young people with a vehicle to participate in the process of county government.

Miami-Dade County Youth Commission

The Miami-Dade County Youth Commission provides young people the opportunity to participate in the process of County government. Motivated students from each Commission district represent and articulate the needs of youth in Miami-Dade and advise the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners on matters affecting the youth population.

The commission was established for one sole purpose: to let your voice be heard. Be active, get involved and participate.

Openings for the Miami-Dade County Youth Commission

Applications are now being accepted for the Miami-Dade County Youth Commission (MDCYC), a county advisory board made up of that advises the Mayor and members of the Board of County Commissioners.

Members of the MDCYC must be between 15-18 years of age at the time of appointment and be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. To qualify for an appointment, students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, demonstrate a sincere interest and motivation to work for the community, and have a background in community-based activities.

Youth Commission Meetings

Youth Commission meetings occur every third Thursday of every month from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Stephen P. Clark Center.
