Specialized Training Program

The Miami-Dade Public Safety Training Institute & Research Center (MDPSTIRC), Specialized Training Unit (STU) currently coordinates and provides instruction in a vast array of specialized training seminars. As part of one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the southeastern United States, the STU has been providing practical and innovative training programs for law enforcement since 1988. This unit provides an essential service to law enforcement agencies from both throughout the country and abroad. As such, this unit develops and coordinates advanced technical, investigative, and specialized training programs that involve a high degree of expertise and knowledge of all aspects pertaining to the law enforcement environment. Each course addresses a topic of critical concern and is presented with the highest caliber of professional instruction.

All STU courses include lunch, snacks and costs of all student notebooks or manuals, as well as selected promotional items. Breakfast, dinner, welcome and farewell receptions are also included on select courses. Students from all over the United States and from over 46 foreign countries have traveled to Miami to participate in our courses. STU course instructors are drawn from throughout the world to provide students with the latest, state-of-the-art information. Each instructor has been rated for presentation skills and only those with the highest rating are selected for courses conducted by this unit. The STU recognizes that most of these training programs are intensive; therefore, the Unit has always remained committed to providing an atmosphere conducive to learning and relaxation, always ensuring that the student learning experience is second-to-none.
