Miami-Dade County Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Advisory Board to hold first meeting

MIAMI – The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Advisory Board, under the Office of Community Advocacy, will hold its first meeting at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, March 11, in the 10th floor Transportation Trust Conference Room of the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street, Miami Florida, 33128.

The Advisory Board will promote Miami-Dade County as a place where LGBTQ-friendly businesses, residents and visitors can come live, work, and be part of a diverse and inclusive community. Miami-Dade County continues to attract more than one million LGBTQ visitors each year as well as individuals, businesses and professionals seeking to relocate in the area.

All Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Advisory Board meetings will be open to the public, and interested residents are encouraged to attend. The Board was established by an ordinance sponsored by Commissioner Eileen Higgins and unanimously approved by the Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 3, 2019.

Among other duties, the LGBTQ Board will make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners with respect to all issues affecting or relating to the LGBTQ community. The Mayor and Commissioners nominate representatives to the LGBTQ Board.
