Miami-Dade County Commission for Women elects its officers for 2018-2019

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women has elected its officers for the 2018-2019 term:

  • Sharon Kendrick-Johnson was elected Chairwoman. Sharon resides in South Miami and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator. She is also the founder and president of the Pumps, Pearls, and Portfolios non-profit that helps low income women and their families.
  • Monica Interian, from Pinecrest, was elected First Vice Chair. Monica is a Licensed Advanced Nurse Practitioner and has experience in hospital management and medical sales.
  • Linda Robinson was elected Second Vice Chair. Linda was instrumental in the incorporation of Palmetto Bay and was then elected its first Vice Mayor. She has been an active real estate broker since 1974 and is now with Keller Williams Realty.
  • Noreen Legault Mendoza was elected Member at Large. Noreen grew up in the Westwood Lakes area and now lives in the Redland in South Miami-Dade. She is the STEAM and Informal Education Coordinator for the City of Miami and promotes the importance of technical and scientific curiosity for people of all ages, but especially for women and girls. 
  • Raisa Sequeira was also elected Member at Large. Raisa is a proud Hialeah native. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Education at the Community and Social Justice Program at the University of Miami, where she is a Graduate Student Association senator on the Civic Engagement Committee.
  • Marie Paule Woodson is the Immediate Past Chair and will continue to serve on the Executive Committee. Marie, who was the Commission for Women’s first Haitian American Chair, is a retired Miami-Dade County administrator and a passionate advocate for women and families.

The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women was created in 1971 as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners, the County administration and the public at large about issues pertaining to the status of women. The Commission for Women also advocates for women in the community and strives to improve their quality of life.
