“Shades of the Quarantine” Hispanic Art Expressions virtual exhibit to open Oct. 2

Artwork Shades of Quarantine

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board (HAAB), under the Office of Community Advocacy, invites you to continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a virtual Hispanic Art Expressions exhibit. You may register to attend the “Shades of the Quarantine” exhibit or “Tonos de la Cuarentena” in Spanish. The exhibit will be live from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Oct. 2 and ending on Oct. 9 at https://fb.me/e/2ZtUqPOGb.

During the weeklong virtual exhibit, about 30 artists will speak in a webinar style about how the pandemic inspired their artwork. The 60 pieces of artwork featured in this exhibit will also highlight the diverse culture of the local Hispanic artists that represent the Spanish-speaking community of #OurCounty. Visit HAAB’s page on Facebook to watch the daily recordings.

The observance of Hispanic Heritage Month started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan and enacted into law in 1988 to cover a 30-day period which includes the last half of the month of September and the first half of the month of October.

For more information on the board’s activities and events during Hispanic Heritage Month please visit HAAB’s webpage, Facebook and Twitter platforms, or contact HAAB Program Director Natalie Milian at [email protected] and/or 305-375-5098.
