Chairman Gilbert names Commission committees and chairs
MIAMI-DADE – Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III, has assigned new Miami-Dade County Commission committees and named the commissioners who will serve as chair and vice chair. Among the eight total committees, five will be led by women commissioners for the first time – a new direction for the 2023 board and an accomplishment ahead of the 50-year commemoration of the U.S. Congress designation of Women’s Equality Day.
“Each woman on our board now has an opportunity to lead, this is the type of equity and inclusion Miami-Dade County should strive for every day,” said Chairman Gilbert. A government that values the perspective of women is one that values the perspective of all, this is vital in the continuous effort to make our County a place for everyone. I am also confident in the abilities of other colleagues I have chosen as chair and vice chair of committees. All have demonstrated experience in the related areas and have shown dedication to the matters.”

*The Chairperson's Policy Council and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee will meet on call of the chair. The Commission chairperson shall serve as the chairperson of the committee and the vice chairperson shall serve as the vice chairperson of the committee. The committee will be comprised of five (5) total members. The three (3) remaining members will alternate and will be announced during the call of the committee.
