Hispanic Heritage Celebration set for Oct. 6 at the Stephen P. Clark Center


“Pipe Dreams” by Josefina Fernandez will be among the works on display at the Hispanic Art Expressions exhibit.

(MIAMI, FL) – The Office of Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jean Monestime and the Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board will host the 2015 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Tuesday, October 6 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Stephen P. Clark Center lobby, 111 NW 1st St.

County officials, in collaboration with Miami Urban Contemporary Experience and the Celia Cruz Legacy Project, will kick off the 16th annual Hispanic Art Expressions Exhibit, which will run through Oct. 31 in the SPCC lobby with the theme Somos Muchos (We are Many). The event also will feature performances by Roxy Theatre Group and Salsa Lovers. Sharing the stage will be the Nigerian Foundation, which is celebrating the 55th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.

Representatives from various community organizations, the office of Senator Marco Rubio, the County Elections Department, the Miami-Dade Public Library System and Florida International University will be on hand to share information and provide services.
