Back to School Community Festival

MIAMI-DADE, FL – District 2 students will receive new book bags filled with school supplies from Chairman Jean Monestime and Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez at the Back to School Community Festival taking place this Friday, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Park, 690 NE 159th Street.

"I thank our sponsors, partners and everyone involved in making this event possible so that the students in my district will be ready for a successful 2016-2017 school year," said Chairman Monestime.

In addition to preparing children for the upcoming school year, the event will offer free health screenings, haircuts and food distribution by Feeding South Florida. District residents will also enjoy snow cones, popcorn, as well as children's activities including a bounce house.
