Miami-Dade County to celebrate International Day of Peace on Sept. 21
MIAMI – The Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board, joined by community leaders and organizations, will celebrate International Day of Peace on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center, 111 NW 1st St. The public is invited.
The event will feature multi-cultural dance, art and musical performances emphasizing the peace message, youth dialogues, a fashion show, mock-trial and other activities aimed at promoting the ideals of peace in our community.
The event will feature:
- Building Blocks for Peace Youth Dialogue in Conference Rooms 18-3 and 18-4 at 10 a.m.
- Peace Assembly in the Lobby at 11 a.m.
- Light lunch on the 3rd Floor Terrace at noon,
- CRB General Membership Meeting in the Commission Chamber at 2 p.m.
International Day of Peace, which was first commemorated in 1981, was established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly to promote the ideals of peace, communication and better understanding among diverse populations. The theme for the 2016 commemoration of International Day of Peace in Miami-Dade County is “Let Us Be Building Blocks for Peace.”
This Peace Day celebration is one of the activities taking place in communities around Miami-Dade County being organized by a committee convened by the CRB.
