South Florida Haiti Relief Group to receive $25,000 check from FPL

Monday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at District 2 Commission Office in North Miami


MIAMI-DADE – In response to Haiti’s devastation in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, representatives from Florida Power & Light Company will present a $25,000 donation to the South Florida Haiti Relief Group on Monday, Oct. 24 at Chairman Jean Monestime’s North Miami District Office, 900 NE 125th Street, Miami, FL 33161.

The check presentation will be received by key Haitian community leaders who are members of the South Florida Haiti Relief Group, including Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jean Monestime, Palm Beach County Commissioner Elect Mack Bernard and Sant La Executive Director, Gepsie Metellus.

The South Florida Haiti Relief Group’s primary mission is to provide relief efforts to Haiti focusing on three areas vital to recovery in the wake of the Category 4 storm: health, education and small business aid. All donations will be distributed to accountable organizations working in the most devastated regions of Haiti.

Sant La, Haitian Neighborhood Center, a nonprofit organization located in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami, is the group’s fiscal agent and check recipient. Sant La's mission is to empower, strengthen and stabilize South Florida's Haitian community through access to free services and resources to ensure its successful integration.
