Commissioner Monestime to host Black History Month Honors Luncheon


MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime will host the 2017 Black History Month Honors Luncheon on Friday, Feb. 24 at 12:30 p.m. at Arcola Lakes Senior Center, 8401 NW 14th Ave., Miami, FL 33167.

This year’s honorees are Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek, Commissioner Betty Ferguson, former Miami Gardens Mayor Shirley Gibson, H.T. Smith, Esq., Dr. George Simpson, Dr. Dazelle Simpson, Dr. Evalina Bestman, Mr. Garth Reeves Sr., Mr. Jean-Robert Lafortune, Ms. Nancy Dawkins, Ms. Florene Nichols and Mr. Fred Morley.

“These remarkable individuals have made a tremendous impact on Miami-Dade County and deserve our recognition and praise,” Commissioner Monestime said.
