Commissioners Marleine Bastien and Keon Hardemon, Veye Yo, and the Jean Juste Family to host 14th Annual Father Gerard Jean Juste Memorial
MIAMI-DADE – Commissioner Marleine Bastien is proud to host the 14th Annual Father Gerard Jean Juste Memorial. This year, Commissioner Bastien is honored to collaborate with Commissioner Keon Hardemon, Veye Yo, and the Jean Juste Family for this special occasion. This evening of remembrance celebrates the impactful legacy of Father Gerard Jean Juste, a beloved figure known for his unwavering dedication to social justice and community empowerment. The event will be held tonight, Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. at the Father Gerard Jean Juste Community Center at Oak Grove Park, 690 NE 159th St., Miami, FL 33162.
Father Gerard Jean Juste was a Haitian Roman Catholic priest and prominent activist known for his tireless advocacy for Haitian immigrants in the United States and the people of Haiti. In the 1970s, he founded the Haitian Refugee Center in Little Haiti, which helped refugees with social services and legal assistance.
Attendees will enjoy special presentations over a buffet-style dinner, including a poetry tribute, musical and dance performances, and community tributes that showcase the life and legacy of Father Gerard Jean Juste.
