(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – Residents of County Commission Chairman Jean Monestime’s district celebrated on August 20, 2015, the first anniversary of Gratigny Plateau Park, located 885 NW 117th Street.  County staff, area residents, and channel 10 reporter Glenna Milberg were in attendance.

Guests enjoyed music and refreshments, courtesy of Publix Super Markets as well as exercise and fitness workouts by the Coca-Cola Troops for Fitness and Miami-Dade Parks wellness coordinators.

Decades ago, the owners of this three-part lot donated it to Miami-Dade County as long as it was developed as a public park. Due to lack of funding, the land remained unused. In 2012, Local 10 News partnered with the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, the Miami-Dade Parks Foundation, and Commissioner Monestime to develop a public-private partnership to make the dream for the community’s children a reality. The park opened on August 6, 2014.
